Evidence-based Naturopath & nutritionist

B. HSc. (Naturopathy) | MindD Practitioner (current)

“I wouldn’t say I came across naturopathy and nutrition naturally, more that I stumbled into this field hoping to improve mine and my family’s health and well-being.”

how it started

“I went looking for the answers myself and ended up helping others along the way.”

Despite having a few fertility struggles with my first daughter, my pregnancy was otherwise unremarkable. However, that niggling feeling that I seemed to be a number that needed to be managed for risk seemed to niggle at the back of my mind. Being adopted myself, majority of my family medical history is unknown which compounded my desire for answers about my health and the need for more personalised care to help find them. This desire grew further once second daughter was born and I really was hit in the face with wanting more answers. Born with a congenital heart defect that remained undetected until she was 10 weeks old and consequent surgery and therapies, I began to recognise there was a big piece missing from our healthcare puzzle. It was about this time that I myself developed an acute infection that wouldn’t clear up which eventually led to a chronic autoimmune diagnosis while my other daughter suffered acute infection after infection.

How it’s going…

While supporting my children through their recoveries, I myself was longing for answers to my 18-month long health struggle, of which doctors eventually threw their hands up in the air and said “we don’t know” and told me my symptoms weren’t real, that I was essentially making them up. It was at this time that a close friend recommended I see her Naturopath. I grew up going to naturopaths alongside doctors so the idea of seeing one wasn’t foreign to me, and this guy actually had a Bachelor and post-grad degree so I figured it was worth a shot. 2 weeks later and my symptoms were completely gone! I was for the large part better.

This is what started me on this journey. Things kept popping up regarding our health and doctors were left scratching their heads.

So I went searching for the answers myself.

To say I stumbled in to it is an understatement. I was thrust head first into the pool and I’m loving all of it. I now have my Bachelor of Health Science and I’ve become obsessed with learning how our bodies work (or don’t necessarily work). We can’t compartmentalise the body. It works as a system and when one part is out of whack, it can throw other parts out as well. I’ve found such joy in helping others find answers as well with their health and working with their healthcare team to feel better and achieve their goals, and connect the dots between your symptoms and health.
